I completed my schooling in 2006 from St.Francis High School and then 5-year Integrated Master’s in Chemistry in 2011 from University of Hyderabad, India.
Master’s degree in Chemistry from India.
After MSc, I joined Trinity College for PhD. I have’nt really worked anywhere. I did couple of Internships in Germany while I was in College.
I am doing PhD in Trinity College Dublin
Prof.Sylvia Draper, School of Chemistry,Trinity College Dublin
Favourite thing to do in science: To ask questions and trying to solve those questions. The bliss one gets after answering those questions which were not answered before is something one has to experience.
My Work: Designing molecules towards a smarter tomorrow.
I have completed my schooling and college in Hyderabad, India. After studying Chemistry for 5 years in India, I joined for PhD in Trinity College Dublin.
At the end of my first year in Trinity, I was fortunate to get “Government of Ireland Scholarship” received from Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland.
My Typical Day: Working in the Chemical laboratory and trying out new reactions to prepare Organic ligands
I am generally in College from 9am to 6pm.
I spend an hour or two reading Science magazines, journals etc. I plan my reactions sitting in my office room.
I spend most of the day working in the lab, trying new reactions and analyzing the compounds prepared by me. Here is an picture of my laboratory.
Most of the times, after completion of the chemical reaction I spend time in purifying the compounds. Normally after the chemical reaction, the desired product is purified using Column chromatography.
What I'd do with the money: Conduct Chemistry outreach program in atleast two schools in Dublin.
If I win, I will be more than happy to conduct outreach program in Schools.
I was very fortunate to participate in Trinity Outreach programs conducted by Chemistry department, TCD. As a part of the program I visited few schools in Dublin and conducted few “cool” science experiments. It was very exciting both to the students and to me. I really enjoyed performing those science experiments and introducing few concepts in Chemistry to students. Students seemed very fascinated about science.
For the same reason, I would like to reach out to those schools where outreach programs has not been conducted so far and interact with school students.
