      Hi Aimee,

      I work about 9 hours a day.
But the funny thing is when you’re not working – shopping in Tesco, watching the TV, cutting the grass going to a football match, lying on a beach or doing something totally unrelated to work you can get an idea, or an explanation for a result can occur to you. So, even when you’re not working there are bits of you still thinking about your experiments.

I’m in the office for about 9 hours a day, but I am on emails till all hours and in fact I tend to answer several work related emails after I have put the children to bed!
In science then you are often thinking about projects and research so it does happen that you are effectively “working” even when officially off duty.
