Molecules are building blocks of nature. They are made up of atoms. There are infinitely large number of molecules.
Synthetic Chemists like me tries to synthesize these molecules and extract purified concentrates. If you can understand and design molecules, you can fundamentally design the world at a nanoscale which is the central dogma of nanotechnology.
