• Question: What difference will environmentally friendly fuel make to the world?

      There are two answers to this question to my mind. The first is that it will drastically reduce the amount of CO2 we emit into the atmosphere. As much as 22% of our total emissions comes from transportation fuels. This is the biggest source of emissions except for power generation. If we want to stabilize the climate we need to get emissions down by around 50% from where they are now so ‘just” replacing transport fuels does almost half the job alone!

      Another potential is for countries with a lot of surplus low carbon energy such as Iceland and even France, who can become self sufficient in fuels and may even export them. Iceland is already doing this using geothermal enemy!
      Finally if you use Co2 from the atmosphere, you’re tapping intro the only source of carbon there is that is equally spread around the world. This could allow nations that have no fossil resources yot become free from importing oil.

      This is a very good question, In our study we choose Dimethyl ether (DME) as a new clean fuel because it has the following advantages and it has some extra application:
      1- DME is a clean energy source as it generates no sulphur oxide during combustion; its environmental impact is low owing to its non-toxicity and easy liquefaction properties.
      2-Non-carcenogenic however benzene is carcinogenic.
      3- It can be used as a spray propellant.
      4- DME has appearance of an excellent, efficient alternative fuel for use in a diesel engine , because of its high oxygen content (around 35% by mass) and the absence of C–C bonds in the molecular structure.
      5-DME replacing CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) which is associated with ozone depletion approximately 15 -20%.
      6- It can be used as Hair spray and shaving cream.
      So I can say that the world will be clean and the ratio of pollution will decrease.
